Art Club

The Art Club is an after school activity which gives students the opportunity to engage in aspects of art that they would not usually get a chance to try in the classroom.

The Art Club commenced in the Art room of Coláiste Chú Chulainn on Thursday the 11th of September. The classes are available to all students with a focus on different Art mediums in each term. It is a fantastic opportunity for students who don’t do Art in school to pursue the subject and for those who do Art in school, to continue their interest outside of the classroom.

Students started the term by making alginate moulds of their hands and are currently busy designing and building puppets and learning various clay techniques along the way.During the year, students will also have the opportunity to enter Art competitions and work on seasonal projects of interest.

In the future the Art club will develop into a Portfolio Preparation course for students wishing to pursue Art at third level. Here, students will be encouraged to develop their critical thinking, engage in current art practices and develop their observational studies and conceptual artwork.
