German classes were very excited to receive a visit from Katharina and the Deutschmobil this Thursday 4th February. The initiative which is supported by Audi Ireland, Lidl, SAP and the Goethe Institut, gives students an opportunity to learn about life in Germany from a native German speaker.
First year students took part in a class about German food. They learned what different foods are called in German and worked together to put them into different groups. They then took part in a quiz in which they won fabulous prizes! Students got a chance to see the Deutschmobil but unfortunately did not have time to take it for a test drive.
Second year students were the first in the country to take part in newly designed lesson about German culture. Students organised facts by topic and set up learning stations around the classroom on famous German people, foods, cars and interesting facts. They then raced to fill in a crossword using the information and the first three pupils won Germanconnects sports bags. The lucky winners were Darren Mundow, Seán McCourt and Mark Agnew.
Everyone had a great time learning about German language and culture and are looking forward to welcoming the Deutschmobil again on a future date.
