On Wednesday evening, the Transition Year class of 2019 invited their friends and family to be a part of their awards night and to view the huge variety of work that they completed over the year.
Everybody gathered for some light refreshments before looking through students portfolios and watching a 'highlights reel' from the year.
Presentations of the awards began, hosted by Bean Uí Riodal and an tUasal Ó Luachráin. Bean Uí Riodal gave a run down of all of the activities that students took part in during the TY programme including kayaking and archery, hiking through the Mournes, CPR training, foreign trips, charity work, trade fairs, driver theory tests, samba drumming and Junk Kouture to name but a few!
Students then presented on each subject and the different activities that they had taken part in. It was wonderful to see how confident, versatile and entertaining our young people can be!
A huge thank you to Ms Savage who took to the microphone to present Gaisce awards to the students who took part in the Presidents Award programme this year. This was a voluntary programme that 9 students took part in and was organised by Ms Savage.
Mr Loughran then presented the overall awards to the students who excelled in some way in Transition Year.
Following the awards ceremony, Ms O'Hare and her TY team sang us out with a beautiful rendition of High Hopes.
A huge thank you to Bean Uí Riodal, Mr Loughran, Ms O'Hare, Ms Fitzpatrick, Mr Melaniphy and all of the TY team for their help on the night and throughout the year!
