Third Year Students begin Study Skills Programme

Third year students received the first session in a Study Skills programme that will support and assist students in developing the skills and techniques needed to perform at their best in the assessments and examinations that will take place throughout this important year.

The first session focused on students’ goals and also looked at the various aspects that makes up the programme and the different sessions that will be delivered throughout the year.

All students received a study planner which combines the class timetable with a study plan. Any students who need another planner can call to an tUasal Ó hÉanaigh or Bean Uí Ríodal for another copy.

The students were also the first group to see the YouTube video made for them which gives “5 Tips for Study Success”. This video can be found on the school YouTube channel or via this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPi4re2lZn8. There are other videos on specific revision techniques that students can use with more videos to follow.

Students were also encourage to search #cccstudy on Twitter where we will post links to the videos and other resources to help students with their study.Studyskillsthumb

CCC vs. SUM

Coláiste Cú Chulainn dominated the game for large swarths of the match and the omens looked good when a speculative shot from distance from McCabe was spilled by the opposition ‘keeper into the net to open the scoring. With less than ten minutes played, Cú Chulainn were two up thanks to a second from from McCabe. Alive to confusion in the box, he managed to poke the ball over the line past the scrambling visiting defence and net-minder. Adam Lennon grabbed a third in a move straight off the training ground. A good passing move from the right was converted by his late run. At half-time the fixture looked dead and buried. A change in personnel in the second half didn’t have a huge baring on the Cú Chulainn dominance overall. The Dunleer side pulled one back in a ten minute passage that would prove their best immediately after kick-off. The icing on the cake came in the last ten minutes when McCabe volleyed home a misguided headed clearance from his side’s corner. The team for CCL: Jack McKenna, Shane Cairns, Conal Doyle, Ryan McFall, Stefan Wesley, Adam Lenon, Joe Mee, Caolan McCabe, Reece McFall, Mark Agnew, Ciaran Johnston; Mikey Doyle, Jessie Nwabueze, Robbie Ryan, Christian Chikidizera.

We were delighted to have welcomed a new cohort of students to Coláiste Chú Chulainn in late August. It's wonderful to watch our little school grow bigger! We’re settling into our new (temporary!) Nicholas St. campus, and are delighted with all the extra space! Our new first years have gotten off to a great start, check out our Flickr album to see what we've been up to!
